How To Apply Press On Nails
Application: Perfect Fit, Every Time
1. Prep Like a Pro!
- Wash your hands to remove dirt and oils.
- Push back cuticles using the cuticle stick for a seamless application.
- Lightly buff the surface of your natural nails to remove shine. This helps the glue adhere better.
- Wipe nails clean with the prep pad (alcohol wipe) to remove any extra oils or residue
Tip for Flat Nails: Buffing your nail surface slightly more can improve adhesion. If your press ons have more curve, gently flex them before applying to help them sit better.
2. Pick Your Perfect Press On
Choose the right size press on for each nail.
- No overlap! The press on should fit snugly from sidewall to sidewall. If it’s too big, file down the edges to customise.
Tip: It’s better to go slightly smaller, nails that fit perfectly will stay on longer and look more natural.
3. Choose Your Adhesive
For short term wear (1-3 days): Use adhesive tabs for easy removal.
For long wasting wear (1-2 weeks): Use nail glue for a strong hold.
Optional: For extra durability, apply both adhesive tabs and a small drop of glue together.
4. Apply Your Press On
1. Apply glue correctly:
- Cover the entire natural nail bed with a thin, even layer of glue - this prevents air pockets and lifting.
- Apply a thin layer on the press on nail as well for extra hold.
- Let the glue sit for 5-10 seconds until it becomes slightly tacky - this improves adhesion.
2. Press & hold with the right technique:
- Align the press on with your cuticle, at a 45 degree angle, then press down lightly at first to avoid glue squeezing out.
- Gradually increase pressure as you hold the nail in place.
- Hold firmly for 90 seconds to ensure a secure bond, focusing on the centre and edges.
Pro Tip: After application, gently file the edges of your nails to smooth them out for a flawless finish. Be sure to file in one direction to keep your French design or colour perfectly intact! 💅✨
3. Let the nails set:
- Avoid water, lotions or excessive pressure for at least 1-2 hours to allow the glue to fully cure.
Tip for Flat Nails: Press down extra firmly along the sides to ensure full contact and prevent lifting.
Now go flaunt those gorgeous nails!
